Manchester United to return with improved £13m bid for Everton star Leighton Baines
MANCHESTER UNITED are poised to launch another move for Leighton Baines.
A bid in the region of £10million was rejected by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright 12 days ago, but United will make a renewed attempt with an offer of nearer £13m.
David Moyes is desperate to bring the 28-year-old to Old Trafford this summer, as he begins to stamp his mark on the Premier League champions.
However, the Toffees have refused to give up the England international without a fight, with new boss Roberto Martinez labelling Baines as an 'icon' for the Merseyside club.
Everton's valuation for the left-back is thought to be as high as £20m, and while United's £13m offer may be rebuffed a compromise could be reached around the £15m mark.
Baines is priced as low as 1/8 on with one bookmaker to be a Red Devils player after the summer transfer window shuts.
Meanwhile, Martinez has completed the first transfer of his Goodison Park reign after striker Arouna Kone signed a three-year deal.
