Blues make Emile of it
CHELSEA’S Premier League title hopes were in tatters last night as Emile Heskey scored a late equaliser for Wigan.
Michael Essien’s second-half strike looked to have given Chelsea a crucial victory in the pursuit of Manchester United.
But Heskey struck in injury-time to leave Avram Grant’s side five points adrift of the league leaders.
Chelsea are also facing a second game in four days when they travel to Everton for their rearranged fixture on Thursday.
Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland kept Chelsea at bay with a string of superb saves before Essien’s blistering 55th-minute drive from the edge of the box put the Blues in command – but that was before Heskey’s late show.
