Jose Mourinho ponders Chelsea move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney
CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that he may be set to bid for unsettled United star Wayne Rooney this summer.
Mourinho and his Chelsea squad arrived in Bangkok this morning to begin the Blues' pre-season tour, where the former Real Madrid coach held a press conference.
Chelsea and London rivals Arsenal have been heavily linked with Rooney this summer, despite Manchester United boss David Moyes insisting that the 27-year-old is not for sale.
But Mourinho refused to rule out a move for the England international - whose pre-season preparations have been disrupted by injury.
"I cannot speak about players from other teams but you know me," said Mourinho.
"I have always said what I think and I like the player very much.
"I cannot say more than that. He is fast and direct. I like him but he is a Manchester United player."
Rooney is valued at around £25million.
