Liverpool target Roberto Soldado still wanted by Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas
TOTTENHAM boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed his liking for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado again - as Liverpool hope to pip the London club for the Spaniard.
Villas-Boas is trying to add to his Spurs squad this summer, while fighting off the advances of Real Madrid and Manchester United to keep star man Gareth Bale.
And while the Portuguese tactician has reiterated his interest in making Soldado his third signing of the summer - following Paulinho and Nacer Chadli's arrival - Liverpool could beat Spurs to the Valencia star.
The Reds have reportedly made the £26million-rated striker their primary target to replace unsettled Luis Suarez, who is moving closer to a switch to Arsenal.
But Villas-Boas maintains Spurs are still in the race despite director of football Franco Baldini failing to agree a fee with the La Liga outfit on a recent visit to Spain.
"There is interest in the player, no matter what happened in the last couple of days.
"He is a quality player, he has done well at Valencia for the last few seasons.
"He has had a good education from the Real Madrid school and he is a player which we interested in adding."
Soldado joined Valencia from Getafe in 2010 and scored 24 goals in the Spanish top-flight last season.
