Sympathy for Rangers

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee has admitted he has every sympathy with Walter Smith because he feels Scottish football should be doing a lot more to aid Rangers’ UEFA Cup final preparations.

The SPL and SFA have both thrown out appeals from Rangers to move their weekend league clash with Dundee United or the Scottish Cup final with Queen of the South.[>

McGhee believes that something should be done to aid their fixture pile-up because the Light Blues are on the verge of a massive achievement - 25 years after his own Aberdeen team were the last Scottish side to lift a European trophy.[>
