Pepe Mel afraid of Baggies collapse after Spurs comeback
PEPE MEL admits he faces a fight on his hands to lift flagging morale at the Hawthorns following another second-half capitulation by his West Brom side.
Albion appeared to be cruising when leading 3-0 against Tottenham on Saturday. But they conceded three goals to throw away what would have been a vital three points in their battle against relegation.
It was the second time in two home games they had failed to claim all three points despite having significant leads: they were 2-0 and 3-2 ahead against Cardiff, a match which resulted in James Morrison and Saido Berahino having a dressing room bust-up.
To make matters more difficult, West Brom’s next game is at title-chasing Manchester City on Easter Monday and Mel said: “The biggest job the technical team has now is to lift the players. The players have done well and they deserve to have more points.
“If we keep doing things in the vein we have then things will go for us. We’ve won two and drawn two of the past five games.”
