COMMENT: Marco Reus is the PERFECT signing for Manchester United
DAVID MOYES should move heaven and earth to bring Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus to Old Trafford this summer.
Reus was on Moyes' list of targets in the January transfer window, but was always going to struggle to lure the midfielder away from his hometown club mid-season.
But with the end of the season coming and Dortmund a distant second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and out of the Champions League, Reus is apparently considering a move away.
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp also looks likely to depart this summer, although the club's two prize assets will not be allowed to leave easily.
Klopp has a host of suitors across Europe, but Reus is in just as hot demand.
Manchester United are being heavily linked with a £30million swoop for Reus, a price that would prove a masterstroke from Moyes should he pull it off.
With suggestions that the trail for Bayern Munich's impressive Toni Kroos is going cold, Reus would actually represent a better signing for United.
He is exactly what the team needs.
Goals from midfield have been in stark absence from Moyes' side this season, although Juan Mata offered a sign of things to come with a double in the 4-0 win over Newcastle.
But Antonio Valenica, Ashley Young, Nani, Shinji Kagawa and the rest have not contributed enough over the course of the season.
Step forward Reus.
19 goals in 35 appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League should be enough to get United supporters' pulses racing.
And he's currently in the middle of a purple patch, with nine in his last eight outings.
His last goal came in Dortmund's 3-0 win over rivals Bayern Munich, while he scored twice in their 2-0 win against Real Madrid.
So if he's so good why would he want to join United? Given the champions are now seventh in the Premier League...
Well, according to close friend and former team-mate Mario Gotze he is keen to move to Old Trafford.
There have been suggestions that the quotes attributed to Gotze claiming Reus wants to play for United are fake, but even if so that should not stop Moyes pursuing him.
Moyes has a reported £200m warchest to spend and Reus should be where his money goes first.
Yes, United will need new defenders in the summer but they are desperate for a player of Reus' abilities in attack.
A sublime first touch, great vision, a deceptive turn of speed and solid finishing are just some of the qualities the 24-year-old would bring to the United squad.

It is well documented that Moyes has already begun planning his summer business, which he as much as confirmed after United's Champions League exit.
And if Reus is available he must be the first name the Scot takes to current executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
If as it has been suggested in some quarters Moyes does not fancy Kagawa, then why not include the Japanese in a swap deal.
He made his name at Dortmund and is loved by their fans.
Having the attacking options of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Mata, Adnan Januzaj and Reus would represent short-term strength and long-term security.
Over to you, Moyesy...
