It's not true! Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen denies Man Utd move is imminent
THOMAS VERMAELEN has slammed speculation that he could be about to leave Arsenal for Manchester United.
Recent reports suggested that Vermaelen had told Arsenal that he wanted to link up with Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford next season.
And with the Belgian looking increasingly surplus to requirements at the Emirates next term, it appeared a deal may be close.
But Vermaelen has now strenuously denied the claims.
He told Sky Sports: "I know there has been a lot of talk and a lot of rumours but the only thing I can say is that it's not true.
"Everybody understands my situation at Arsenal and that I have one year left.
I know there has been a lot of talk and a lot of rumours but the only thing I can say is that it's not true
"I understand that people are going to talk but I am here in Brazil and I am enjoying my time and I'm focused on what I am doing."
And while Vermaelen doesn't deny he has held talks with Arsenal, he says that only Arsene Wenger can decide his future.
He added: "We talk a lot when I am at Arsenal but it's not what I am going to discuss here.
"It is something you are going to have to ask him."
