Let the battle commence! Both Man Utd and Man City target Feyenoord star Terence Kongolo
MANCHESTER UNITED and Manchester City are set to battle it out for the signature of Feyenoord defender Terence Kongolo.
The Dutch defender who can play at both centre back and at right back was included in Louis van Gaal's World Cup squad this summer in Brazil.
However, Kongolo's 16-year-old brother Rodney, currently plays for Manchester City's academy after quitting Feyenoord to join the Premier League champions.
City hope that with Rodney in their academy, it could entice Terence to move to the Etihad rather joining Van Gaal at Manchester United.
United hope to snap up 20-year-old Terence for £3million in the January and then loan the youngster back to Feyenoord for the rest of the season.
Van Gaal's floundering United side are in despeate need to revitalise their defence having conceeded 14 goals and only picked up three wins so far this term.
Their defensive woes only got worse today after Marcos Rojo dislocated his shoulder during the Manchester derby and will be forced to miss the visit of Crystal Palace next week.
