Great news! Newcastle icon Jonas Gutierrez wins his fight against cancer
THERE are smiles all round in the football world after Newcastle star Jonas Gutierrez revealed that he has won his battle against cancer.
The 31-year-old disclosed in September that he was currently undergoing chemotherapy for testicular cancer, with messages of support pouring in from all over the world.
Jonas, who the spent the second-half of the previous campaign on-loan at Norwich, had kept his treatment private after undergoing an operation to have his left testicle removed in October 2013.

Today I was given a medical discharge
However, the versatile midfielder, who has been capped 22 times for Argentina, took to Twitter earlier this evening telling his followers the news they had been hoping to hear.
Tweeting from his account @elgalgojonas, Jonas said: "Today I was given a medical discharge.
"Thank you very much to all who accompanied me at this time, especially my family, my parents, brothers, godmother, friends and @alemaglietti."
