Newcastle's hot-shot Ayoze Perez won’t go cold in Tyneside
TYNESIDE's newest hero Ayoze Perez is loving life, despite having swopped the cloudless skies of the Canary Islands for the nippy North-east.
Ayoze Perez is enjoying life at Newcastle
Perez joined Newcastle in the summer in a low key £1.6million move from Spanish second tier side Tenerife, but has scored three times in the Magpies' last four league games, helping Alan Pardew's team enjoy six straight wins in a row.
Perez was not supposed to be a first team fixture this season, but the 21-year-old has exceeded all expectations and insists he is revelling in his new environment.
"Coming from Tenerife I do feel the cold. But I've been told by a lot of people this is nothing and there is a lot more to come," said Perez.
"I'm getting prepared. I have lots of coats and jumpers ready, but I am very happy to adapt. It won't be a problem for me.
"I'm trying to explore the area and learn more about Newcastle as a city by going to different events.
Premier League Talking Points - Gameweek 11 Round-up
"I have been to the rugby to watch the Falcons and I want to experience the different culture and traditions as much as possible. I have even tried fish and chips.
"Being in Newcastle is a very different way of life to Tenerife. The climate is very different but the city itself is beautiful and I love being here.
"I am surprised how quickly I have adapted and how well things are going, but I never questioned whether I would be a success.
"I have my brother here with me which makes it much easier. Being confident is a really important part of being a footballer. I know my own ability and what I can achieve."
Perez announced himself to the Premier League a month ago when he scored the winner at White Hart Lane - a memorable strike which triggered his goalscoring run.
