The reason Spurs 'believe' they are now better than Manchester United and Chelsea
TOTTENHAM must grab their opportunity and secure a top-four finish in the Premier League, says former player Brad Friedel.
Brad Friedel says his former side Tottenham are primed to grab a Champions League spot
Spurs sit fifth in the table after drawing 1-1 with Arsenal yesterday.
They are a point behind fourth-place Manchester United and two off Leicester in third.
And Friedel, 44, says his former club is primed to challenge for a Champions League spot.
“I tip Tottenham to get into the top four this season, and that’s not because of my allegiance to them, I really believe in what Mauricio Pochettino is doing there," he told talkSPORT.
Before yesterday's derby at the Emirates another former player, Jermaine Jenas, said Spurs must take advantage of Chelsea's slump and grab fourth place.
The Blues sit 16th in the table after losing seven of their 12 top-flight games, while Jenas also earmarked Manchester United as a team to exploit.
"The question for Tottenham every year seems to be: can they make the top four? The answer is usually 'no'," Jenas told Radio 5 Live.
"This season, with Manchester United not playing brilliantly and Chelsea well below their usual standards, there is a massive chance for them."
