Angel Di Maria launches stinging attack on Manchester United and Louis van Gaal
ANGEL DI MARIA has hit out at Louis van Gaal and Manchester United after revealing his reasons for leaving Old Trafford last summer.
Angel Di Maria is happy to have left Manchester United
The Argentine joined United in 2014 for a British record £60million and made a promising start to his career.
But off the field issues, injuries and poor form meant he left United and moved to Paris Saint Germain for around £44m after just one season.
And the 27-year-old says his unhappiness was a factor in his exit.
"Every time I was given the opportunity I did the best I could but it didn't work out," Di Maria told BBC Sport.
"I decided to leave, not only to be happy, but to win things."

The former Real Madrid ace then took a swipe at Van Gaal for playing him out of position.
"I started a game in a position, and then the next one I would be in another," Di Maria added.
"I scored goals playing in one position, and then suddenly the next game I was picked to play in a different position."
