Chelsea ace: I've been copying this legendary midfielder
RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK has revealed he has been trying to play like Frank Lampard.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has forced his way into the Chelsea first team
Loftus-Cheek grabbed his first ever Premier League goal against Aston Villa and has become a regular in Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea team.
And having been at the club since the age of eight, the 20-year-old admitted that both his goals for the first team this season, the other coming in the FA Cup against Scunthorpe, have been Lampard-esque, arriving late into the penalty area to score.
“That type of scenario is definitely something we do on the trainmen pitch and aim to replicate in games,” Loftus-Cheek said.
“He’ll tell me what he thinks, whether it’s good or bad, and you want that from a coach.
“He’s really helpful with the young players and I’m grateful he has given me a starting position in games.
“Hopefully I’ll get some more before the summer and can take that confidence into next season.”
