Moyes, 52, is out of work after being sacked by Real Sociedad earlier this season.
The Scot is reportedly Celtic's No 1 candidate to take over should Deila get the axe.
Celtic's board are said to be considering their options heading into the summer after the club lost to rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The BBC claim there are no concrete plans to yet sack the manager but that Moyes could come in if the situation changes.
Remi Garde has already left the club, which leaves the board searching for a new long-term manager next term.
Moyes is interested in the Villa post even though it means dropping down to the Championship but is open to taking over at Parkhead too.
Former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson and Preston's Simon Grayson are also said to be in the running.

Moyes started his playing career at Celtic back in 1980 and retired 18 years later as a centre-back at Preston.
He went on to manage Everton for nine years before an ill-fated 10-month reign at Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
As for Celtic, the Belfast Telegraph claim the club will also assess Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon as candidates to replace Deila.
Northern Ireland head coach Michael O'Neill has also been tipped to apply for the role.
