Agent breaks promise as star midfielder snubs Manchester United for Juventus
MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports.
Juventus have pipped Manchester United to the signing of Valencia star Andre Gomes
The 22-year-old has been a shining light in a Valencia squad that have endured a turbulent campaign under three different managers including Gary Neville.
And his impressive form has attracted the interest of United, with it being understood that Jose Mourinho has been promised the former Benfica man by agent Jorge Mendes should he replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford next season.
The report adds the Italian giants have had to act fast to secure a deal for the former Benfica star because of Claudio Marchisio being ruled out for six months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Gomes is understood to have been on Juve's radar for some time and it appears as if they have pipped United to his signature after director Beppe Marotta pushed for the move.
Gomes, who only joined Valencia last summer, has scored four goals in 37 appearances for Valencia this season.
