The Reds met Red Bull Leipzig star Keita’s £48million buy-out clause and paid an undisclosed premium on top to sign the midfielder on Monday.
Keita, who underwent a medical at the club’s Melwood training complex, won’t officially become a Liverpool player until next summer.
The signing still represents a statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp, who had been negotiating a deal for the 22-year-old behind the scenes.
Klopp is expected to spend heavily before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow at 11pm.

“Okay, he comes next year, but I am sure the club are delighted to get him because he will be a real addition to the squad and will hopefully help us over the next few years.”
After completing his move, Keita said: “I am delighted that an agreement has been reached and I will become part of a project that excites me greatly.
"My commitment to RBL remains absolute for the remainder of my time at the club. I have given my all every time I have worn the shirt - that will be the case until the final whistle, in my final appearance.
“Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve great things this season. Until I join my new club, next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance."
