Killie Can't afford relegation
DANNY INVINCIBILE has vowed he won’t let Kilmarnock go down because he knows there are livelihoods on the line at Rugby Park.
The Ayrshire outfit were sucked into the relegation dogfight when losing 2-1 at Inverness on Saturday and were read the riot act by boss Jim Jefferies at their training base yesterday after going 10 games without a win.
Killie, five points clear of league bottom dogs Falkirk, are heavily in debt and there seems little doubt that slipping into the First Division would be a catastrophe for them.
Invincibile is more than aware of that and insists dropping out of the SPL just cannot be contemplated.
He said: “Jamie Moffat has gone and we wouldn’t have a chairman behind us with loads of cash if we did go down.
“In England, you get a lot of financial support if you go down a league, but you are relying to a great degree on crowds and merchandise here.
For a club like Kilmarnock, it could be a real blow
“For a club like Kilmarnock, it could be a real blow. We know that, we’re not going to let it happen and we can’t let it happen.”
