Liverpool transfer news: Nabil Fekir deal shows Jurgen Klopp is ruthless - Craig Burley
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has proved he is ruthless with his pursuit of Nabil Fekir, claims ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley.
Klopp will struggle to position Fekir at Liverpool says expert
Lyon playmaker Fekir was expected to join Liverpool on Friday but the deal has been delayed.
If the 24-year-old does complete a switch to Anfield, he would be the third midfielder to join the club already this summer.
Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig after a deal was agreed in 2017, with Fabinho also signing for the Reds last week.
It could mean a completely different midfield start for Liverpool next season to the one that led them to the Champions League final last term.
The midfield that gets you to the Champions League final is just getting the old biff, the old Spanish archer, see you later
And Burley believes the trio could be the long-term midfield solution for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
“If that is the three in midfield, by the way, the midfield that gets you to the Champions League final is just getting the old biff, the old Spanish archer, see you later,” Burley said on ESPN FC.
“It’s a cutthroat business, like any business. If you want success, sometimes that has to happen.
“I still think (Jordan) Henderson will have a part to play in there because he’s very workmanlike.
Fekir is the best player in the French league says expert
“But looking at the ages of those players as well, they’re all sort of mid-twenties, 23, 24.
“They’re all young, they’ve got four or five years before they maybe even reach their peak.
“Add that to the players that are already there.
“James Milner has done a great time in several positions, we know how energetic Keita is, Fabinho can play midfield and at the back, Adam Lallana’s not been fit a lot this year.”
