Antoine Griezmann future: Reporter uses Google Translate to ask cheeky question
THIS is the hilarious moment a Spanish reporter used a Google Translate app to ask Antoine Griezmann about his future at Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann sees funny side of journalist breaking rules
Griezmann has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid in recent seasons with Barcelona widely expected to be his next destination.
The Frenchman confirmed during a World Cup press conference on Tuesday that he had decided his future but refused to elborate any further.
“Today is not the day to talk about my future,” the 27-year-old insisted.
“Yes, I have already made a decision about my future.
“But I'm not going to speak about it today. It's not the time or the place.”
However, Spanish news reporters continued to question Griezmann, so much so that the media officer for the France team insisted all questions were to be asked in French.
But that didn’t stop one reporter.
Pedro Morata – who reports for Spanish radio network Cadena SER – came up with a sneaky way to flout the ‘French only’ rule.
Morata typed his question asking Griezmann whether he would stay at Atletico into a Google Translate app on his phone before pressing play with the microphone held up against the speaker.
Griezmann smiled at the reporter but media office Philippe Tournon was not impressed.
“No, next question. You sitting next to him, you go next please,” Tournon said infuriated.
“No don’t answer,” he said to Griezmann.
“I told you this press conference would be in French only and Antonie has answered the question.”
