Olivier Giroud: Patrice Evra makes huge World Cup demand over Chelsea star
OLIVIER GIROUD must start every game for France for the remainder of the World Cup.
That is the opinion of former France and Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra.
Giroud was left out of Didier Deschamps’ starting XI for the opening game against Australia last Saturday.
However, he returned to the side for the second group match against Peru this afternoon.
The Chelsea striker impressed in the first half and played a huge role in Kylian Mbappe’s opening goal.
I think Giroud has to start every game. I know he annoys a lot of people when he’s playing, but he has to start
And Evra saw enough to convince him Olivier Giroud must start every game.
“I think the only player who can play instead of Giroud is Benzema and he’s not in the squad,” he said on ITV.
“I think Giroud should start every game.
“You see he can hold the ball, he’s good on the one-two, he has a good relationship as well with (Antoine) Griezmann.
"You can see Griezmann is always around him. So I think Giroud has to start every game.
“I know he annoys a lot of people when he’s playing, but he has to start.
“He’s been so good for France.”
