Man Utd transfer news: Sam Allardyce makes Jesse Lingard claim
MANCHESTER UNITED star Jesse Lingard has overcome the challenges that new signings have brought to Old Trafford.
That is the opinion of former England boss Sam Allardyce.
Lingard had a fine season for Manchester United last term and has taken his form into the World Cup with England.
The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at United but did not become a firm regular until last season, aged 25.
Allardyce has been impressed with how Lingard has dealt with the pressure of playing for the Red Devils.
Does Roy Keane slam Jesse Lingard in his praise of Harry Kane?
They’ve spent huge money and he’s overcome those challenges at Man United
And he says it is particularly impressive with big-money players, like £400,000-a-week star Alexis Sanchez, coming into the club of late.
“Experience for Jesse Lingard has proven to help him be more consistent and more dynamic, not only in the Man United side,” Allardyce told talkSPORT on Monday morning.
“Look at the competition he’s had at Manchester United, look at the players they’ve bought.
“Sanchez recently, (Anthony) Martial, they’ve spent huge money and he’s overcome those challenges at Man United.
“He’s been more of a regular first-team player than certainly Martial and I think that has been good for England.
“He handles the big pressure, you play for Manchester United and that’s massive, massive pressure.
“Everybody knows the demands of Manchester United, Champions League and to win the league.
“I think that he’s come through that with great experience over the years and his talent is getting better and better.”
