Transfer news: Real Madrid and Chelsea on alert after Roma make Alisson admission
ROMA would consider an offer for reported Real Madrid and Chelsea target Alisson Becker if they were to formally receive one and not flat-out reject it.
Alisson Becker's incredible moments in goal for A.S. Roma
That is what the Italian giants’ sporting director Monchi has admitted.
Back in May, the Spaniard claimed: “Alisson? If he leaves, it’s just because I’ve gone back to being a goalkeeper. This is the only way he’ll leave.”
But the revered former Sevilla transfer chief has left the door open for Real and Chelsea to chase up their apparent interest in Brazil’s No 1 goalkeeper.
The Selecao's World Cup quarter-final exit to Belgium frees Alisson up to decide his future ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
The 25-year-old was also of interest to Liverpool, who made him their first-choice goalkeeping target - but the Reds were put off by Roma’s price tag which is thought to be beyond £80million.
With Thibaut Courtois’ future unknown and Real wanting to upgrade on Keylor Navas, having also been linked with Courtois, both clubs have been linked with a big-money move for Alisson - who kept 17 clean sheets in 37 Serie A games last term.
And Monchi confirmed that Roma have yet to receive any concrete interest in the shot-stopper but says that they will consider any bids that do come in.
“The same chance that [Kostas] Manolas, [Edin] Dzeko and [Lorenzo] Pellegrini have of leaving,” Monchi said when asked about the likelihood of Alisson leaving the Stadio Olympic this summer.
“The same chance as anyone who we haven't had offers for. I know you don't believe me, but I haven't had any offers.
“If some were to arrive - and this applies to any other player - we'd evaluate them and then make a decision.
“Right now though we think he should rest after the World Cup, then come back here and have just as important a season as the last one."
