Real Madrid transfer news: Gareth Bale to join Man Utd unless Cristiano Ronaldo demand met
MANCHESTER UNITED’s chances of signing Gareth Bale hinge on whether Real Madrid accept his Cristiano Ronaldo demand, it has been claimed.
United is Bale's most likely destination says football writer
Manchester United want Real Madrid forward Bale to be their marquee signing, having shelved plans to sign Ronaldo.
The 33-year-old is currently in Turin for a medical with Serie A giants Juventus, who rocked the world last week by agreeing a £88million transfer.
Manchester United were linked with Ronaldo but reports have claimed they chose to pursue a deal for Bale instead.
And the Manchester Evening News say the Wales international wants a certain demand met if he is too stay at the Bernabeu.
The Real superstar will hold talks with new boss Julen Lopetegui today, having returned from his holidays.
There, he will reportedly demand to be the club’s talisman, filling the void left by Ronaldo’s exit.
And if the La Liga giants refuse to let him get his way, a Real Madrid exit could be on the cards.
Manchester United are confident of a deal with talks supposedly at an advanced stage - but still dependent on Bale making his feelings clear.
And whether Real choose to gamble by losing a second big player remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, speaking last month, United legend Ryan Giggs endorsed Bale’s signing.
“I’d be a happy United fan, that’s for sure,” he said.
“I think he’s a Manchester United player. I think the fans would love him.
“The fans would adore him but again, like I say, he’s at a club where he’s won three Champions Leagues so why would you leave?”
