Tottenham transfer news: Pochettino faces one major issue for Kondogbia deal
TOTTENHAM face an uphill challenge to land Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to reports.
As of yet, Tottenham haven’t signed a player this summer.
Spurs have been linked with moves for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, but dithered over Jack Grealish, who looks set to stay at Aston Villa.
But with the transfer window closing on August 9, the north London outfit are running out of time to acquire reinforcements.
However, it seems that they could be priced out of a move for Kondogbia.
The Daily Mirror are reporting Valencia are demanding £70m for the player.
I cannot tell you if we're going to sign one, zero or two or three or four
The report suggests Daniel Levy believes the 25-year-old could add more ‘bite’ to his midfield.
Kondogbia is of a similar mould to Victor Wanyama, who has been an ever-reliable performer for Spurs whenever he has played.
Mauricio Pochettino meanwhile, suggested he may head into the new campaign without strengthening his squad.
He said: “Last season I told you some numbers, but this season we don't know.
"I don't know if we are going to sign [anyone] or not - we’re working on that.
“I cannot tell you if we're going to sign one, zero or two or three or four.
"I think I am working and focused on trying to deliver my job, our job. I try to prepare the team.”
