Liverpool fans CONVINCED Nabil Fekir will join as star returns to training - VIDEO
NABIL FEKIR has returned to training with Lyon following the World Cup – but Liverpool fans remain convinced he will join the Reds.
Nabil Fekir returns to Lyon training ahead of new season
Fekir had been on the brink of joining Liverpool earlier this summer in a move which would’ve cost a whopping £48.4million.
The Frenchman had a medical with the Merseyside club before the move fell apart after Liverpool officials raised concerns over a knee injury Fekir suffered back in 2015.
Liverpool are understood to have tried to renegotiate the fee however, Lyon then pulled out of the move.
"Nabil was close to Liverpool, but I didn't green-light the move," Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas said.
"Things didn't go all the way because it was taking too much time. Nabil is an exceptional player."
Following his participation at the World Cup with France, Fekir was handed an extended summer break but he’s now returned to the Lyon fold ahead of the new Ligue 1 campaign.
In a video posted on Lyon’s Twitter account, Fekir was seen walking into the dressing room, greeting his team-mates with hugs and handshakes.
And unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans were quick to respond to the video.
“It's only a matter of time,” one Reds fan posted along with a picture of Fekir’s leaked signing announcement.
Another supporter said: “It will soon be in the Liverpool locker room.”
Other fans questioned whether Fekir was actually saying goodbye to his Lyon team-mates.
“Is he saying goodbye???” one fan said.
Another fan wrote: “Looks like goodbye hugs.”
“Say your goodbyes nabil.. see you soon,” a third supporter wrote.
