Ronnie O'Sullivan issues brutal Ali Carter comment after eighth Masters snooker triumph
Ronnie O'Sullivan had some choice words for Ali Carter after winning the Masters snooker final.
Ronnie O'Sullivan rubbed salt in Ali Carter's wounds after defeating the Captain 10-7 in a stunning comeback during the Masters final. Carter stormed into a 6-3 lead but could not close out the win as the now-eight-time champion lifted the trophy once again, beating one of his most fierce rivals in a grudge match on the biggest stage.
The 48-year-old appeared in trouble throughout the majority of the contest, as Carter led 2-1 and held that lead for quite some time before O'Sullivan locked in and showcased his champion mentality.
Carter has never won a Triple Crown event and looked dejected at the end of the match, before O'Sullivan made matters worse by criticising his game in the evening session after the winner claimed seven of the final eight frames.
O'Sullivan said that Carter "didn't play great" in the final session and even though his opponent was in the form of his career going into the final, the Rocket admitted he was not worried when trailing in the match.

"I don't know how I won this tournament," O'Sullivan told the BBC. "I just dug deep, just tried to play with a bit of freedom and just tonight I thought to try and keep Ali honest and if he was going to win it, he is going to have to scrape me off the table.
"I just wanted to see if he had it at the end, that's all I did coming into the evening session was going 'let's just see if he can get over the line' and my whole mindset was that, so I wasn't even worried about frames four and five, just keep playing and see what happens.

"I mean Ali didn't play great tonight, he played better in the afternoon than tonight. He let me off a few times.
"But he was aggressive today and tonight he didn't take on some balls that I thought he might have took on and it just gave me a little bit of breathing space and I just done what I could. I just tried to make the most and see what happens."
Carter will take solace from the fact that he has continued his stellar form at the Masters and even broke the record for most century breaks in a single year at the event with nine, but unfortunately for the Captain he was unable to get over the line.
