Luke Humphries is engaged to girlfriend Kayley Jones after proposing in the “perfect moment” above the New York skyline. Following his run to the Premier League Darts final, Humphries and long-term partner Jones managed to get some time away in the Big Apple.

The 29-year-old darts star has shared snaps of the proposal at the Edge, New York on Instagram. Humphries got down on one knee to pop the question as Jones held her hands to her face in shock.

Humphries wrote in the caption on the social media platform: "A moment that I’ve been waiting to do for some time now. Just wanted to wait until that perfect moment! Today was that time.

"Up the edge in New York all by ourselves, I popped the question, proud to say Kayley said yes!"

Darts rival Luke Littler, who defeated Humphries to win the Premier League Darts title, was among the stars sending their best wishes, commenting: "Congrats mate."

Humphries has two children with his new fiancee. He previously praised Jones for allowing him to rest and be in his best shape for darts events.

The world champion said: “Credit to my girlfriend. She could easily have me up at 6am, looking after my son who wakes up at that time. But she allows me to sleep in.

“She understands the importance of rest. If she wanted me to get up at those times, I’d do it. But she’s the most supportive woman in the world towards me. I give a lot of credit to her.

“She allows me to come home from darts and have that rest time I need. Whereas a normal dad may get up at 6am for the kids.

“I got home from the UK Open in Minehead at 4am. My week would have been ruined.“All the credit to her for allowing me to have that relaxed time. She works incredibly hard at home, I work incredibly hard at darts.”

It has been a fantastic year for Cool Hand. In January, he stormed all the way to the World Darts Championship final, defeating Littler in a thrilling showdown that went on to shape the next few months.

His rivalry with the 17-year-old has been one of the stories of the sporting year. The duo met in the Premier League Darts final earlier in May, with Littler defeating Humphries 11-7.
