Olympic athlete whose manhood halted medal hopes offered £196k by adult site
For one track and field star in Paris the Olympic dream is over for the summer, but another venture could soon begin.
When you’re battling Olympic heartbreak, there's nothing like a lucrative offer to make an explicit video to help you get over it. French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati’s hopes of a medal disappeared on Saturday when he failed to clear 5.70metres, eventually finishing 12th and missing out on a place in the final.
But while his final attempt at that height would have left him wondering what might have been, it’s also opened another door for him away from athletics.
Ammirati initially looked like he’d cleared the bar, only to be seemingly scuppered by making contact with his groin area.
On social media, his misfortune was greeted with sympathy and hilarity in equal measures. And now one adult site has moved to capitalise on his new-found fame, offering him a huge deal to make light of his ordeal in Paris.
According to TMZ, CamSoda is offering him £196,000 for a 60-minute 'webcam show'. That sum dwarfs the £39,400 handed out by World Athletics to athletes who win a gold medal in France.
Vice president of the company, Daryn Parker, said: "If it was up to me, I’d award you for what everyone else saw, your talent below the belt. s a lover of crotch-centric activities, I'd love to offer you up to $250,000 in exchange for a 60-minute webcam show, in which you show off your goods, minus the crossbar, of course."
Ammirati, a former under-20 world champion, is yet to comment publicly on the offer. And immediately after the games, he appeared to avoid talking about the finer details of his final failure, claiming it was a lack of competitive action that eventually cost him.
“I’m a bit gutted, because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70m. What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session.
“I was 100 percent physically, but I was missing a bit of pole vault. The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to interact with the audience. I was almost there.”

The notion of professional sportspeople making adult content to earn extra money is becoming a growing theme. A number of high-profile boxing and MMA stars are now on OnlyFans, where users must pay to access to content.
On the eve of the Olympics, British diver Jack Laugher announced he had launched an OnlyFans account. "I'll happily cash in on that,” he admitted. “I’m a bit of a hustler and I want a bit more money if I can."
