Mark McCall’s Sarries are unbeaten in the Premiership this season while their French opposition have won six and lost two in the Top 14 but could not carry their national form into this European clash.
Sarries were runners-up in 2014 and semi-finalists last season and in 2013, while Toulouse are looking to end their five-year wait for the European crown.
Owen Farrell was in glittering form, directing the game for Saracens and using all his wiles with the boot.
There was a standing ovation for the outside half as he was replaced by Charlie Hodgson at No10.
The Premiership champions named England’s World Cup centre Brad Barritt as captain as they opened their Champions Cup campaign and he led from the front against the four-time European champions. Mako Vunipola claimed the game’s other try.
Simon Zebo struck for the simplest of tries in the dying minutes to ensure a bonus point win for Munster over Treviso.
Ian Keatley nailed the extras to ensure an emphatic winning margin.
A mostly forgettable first half ended 10-7 in Munster’s favour, BJ Botha burrowing over in the fourth minute and fellow South African Braam Steyn replying with a terrific solo effort on the quarter-hour mark.
However, in wet and windy conditions, Treviso’s resolute defence was worn down in the third quarter. CJ Stander and Duncan Casey also claimed tries.
