Danny McGuire cheers Leeds
DANNY McGUIRE gave England coach Steve McNamara a reminder of his talent as Leeds won 37-30 at Warrington.
Leeds half-back Danny McGuire claimed a glorious try to put his side in sight of victory before a monster drop-goal from Kevin Sinfield settled it.
Leeds slumped to a home defeat by Crusaders last week and coach Brian McClennan got the response he wanted from his below-strength team.
“We let ourselves down last week and it was a magnificent effort to snatch a win at the end,” said McClennan.
It was a setback for Warrington, who let slip a 20-12 interval lead.
“We gave them a lot of cheap penalties. Our discipline also let us down at certain times,” said Wolves full-back Richie Mathers.
MICHAEL SHENTON ran in a hat-trick of tries for Castleford as they beat Bradford 28-22 to move within apoint of the eighth-placed Bulls. Castleford boss Terry Matterson said: “I was really pleased with the performance.”
CRUSADERS were hammered 41-0 by Wakefield in a one-sided affair.
