Wimbledon star Jan Choinski has opened up on his crazy nutritional intake.
Wimbledon: Day three wrap
Wimbledon star Jan Choinski has explained that he matches the world’s strongest man Mitchell Hooper by eating a whopping 5,500 calories per day. The Briton reached the second round of the tournament after beating Dusan Lajovic in the first round but was ultimately knocked out on Thursday by his former doubles partner Hubert Hurkacz.
Choinski was handed a wildcard to play at this year’s edition of Wimbledon after climbing from 650 to 167 in the world rankings. On Monday, the 27-year-old overcame Serbian ace Lajovic 5-7, 7-6, 6-2 6-2 but was unable to stun world No 18 Hurkacz as the Pole won their second round match 6-4, 6-4, 7-6.
Choinski has received plenty of attention due to his endeavours at SW19. And the player has revealed just how much he eats to fuel his training. “I’m training really hard to make my dreams come true,” he told Muscle and Health.
“A typical day includes a long warm-up with some mobility work and speed training, then we start the first tennis session of around two hours. After that, we’ll break for lunch and do a second gym and tennis session in the afternoon.
“Diet wise, I try to reach a daily goal of 5,500 calories. I eat a lot of carbs and keep it healthy. At the moment, I’m trying to reduce my intake of gluten and milk products to see whether it benefits my performance and recovery.”
After an event, world's strongest man Hooper revealed how much he eats per day. He told Muscle and Health: "I’ll lose a little bit of weight and eat a little bit cleaner, but I’ll stick at around 5,500 calories from here on out. I’ll compete at around 315 pounds and I’m 325 right now.”
Choinski had never reached the main draw of a Grand Slam before he was handed a wildcard by Wimbledon organisers. But before his loss to Hurkacz, the player admitted he was thankful to tournament chiefs and would love the opportunity to one day play against reigning Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.

“I am very thankful to Wimbledon and the LTA for their continued support and the opportunity to play at Wimbledon this year,” he added. “My plan is to go into every match being aware of my weapons. I will always maintain a winning mindset.
“I know nothing is impossible, tennis has shown me that time and time again. The most important thing is to start each tournament strong. I’m very athletic, I have a strong and heavy baseline game and a great serve.
“I would love to play Novak Djokovic. He’s an amazing champion and retains a strong and independent mindset, despite widespread media and public criticism surrounding his opinions. Novak always manages to fight back and show unbelievable determination to achieve the impossible.”
