Jannik Sinner embarrassed after Australian Open win as Sharapova digs up priceless video
Jannik Sinner secured the first Grand Slam of his career at the Australian Open, and some of his congratulatory messages will have caught the eye of his fans.
Jannik Sinner has been left embarrassed following his Australian Open win thanks to Maria Sharapova. A video of the newly-crowned champion has been shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing him singing and dancing whilst donning some questionable Christmas accessories.
Sinner landed his first Grand Slam in extraordinary fashion at Melbourne Park, fighting back from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev. The Italian headed into the final full of confidence after beating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.
However, Medvedev took control of the first half of the match and comfortably won the opening two sets. Sinner soon hit back though and quickly found his rhythm to secure a 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 victory.
The performance justified why the fourth seed has been tipped to rival Carlos Alcaraz for plenty of titles in the future. Sinner earned plenty of praise for his gritty display, with several stars posting online to congratulate the 22-year-old.

Sharapova was among those to post about his victory, though her message may be an unwelcome surprise given its embarrassing nature. The Russian star posted a clip of Sinner singing Brenda Lee’s Christmas classic ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ with her on a frosty afternoon.
Wearing a pair of antlers on his head and festive glasses, Sinner may have been hoping that the hilarious clip may have remained in Sharapova’s phone for the foreseeable future rather than published to her 8.2 million X followers. The post was captioned: “I knew that one day you’ll regret this. Congrats Champ!! Patience, poise and class.”
Sinner was keen to thank everyone who had helped him reach this point in his career after his Melbourne success, including his parents, who had not travelled from Italy for the competition which ultimately saw their son lift the title. He said: “Everyone who is watching from home, especially my family. I wish that everyone could have my parents because they always let me choose whatever I wanted to and even when I was younger, they never put pressure on myself.
"I wish this freedom is possible for as many young kids as possible, so thanks so much to my parents. That's it, I don't know what else to say. See you next year.
“I want to thank all the sponsors, ball kids, chair umpire, and everyone who makes this event so good. It's the happiest Slam, it is a very nice place to be.”
