American tennis sensation Coco Gauff couldn't help but chuckle at the French Open crowd's support for her opponent as she took a bathroom break during her match with Ons Jabeur. After conceding the first set 6-4 in Tuesday's quarter-final clash, the US Open champion bounced back impressively to claim victory with 6-2 and 6-3 in the following sets, securing her spot in the semi-finals at Roland Garros.

The next challenge for Gauff is a formidable one as she faces the world's top-ranked player, Iga Swiatek, who has already clinched three French Open titles and is the current defending champion. The upcoming contest is set to be a riveting rematch of last year's quarter-final at the same venue.

Reflecting on her match against Jabeur, Gauff praised her opponent, saying, "She's a tough opponent and she's well-loved on tour," before acknowledging the crowd's preference, admitting: "I can tell by the crowd today I know you guys wanted her to win and, honestly, when she's not playing I cheer for her too."

Gauff expressed her gratitude towards the fans for their lively spirit: "Thank you guys for making it a good atmosphere. The people up there made it really fun for me, I like playing in environments like this, and over here too."

Despite the crowd's clear favouritism for Jabeur, Gauff enjoyed the experience, opening up on her experience during a rowdy break in play: "Even though you guys were pro-Ons I really had a lot of fun. Even when I lost the first set and they were chanting, I was in the bathroom and just like 'This is really fun, win or lose'."

Gauff was also thankful for the support she received during the match: "There were two people behind my bench cheering for me, not loudly, but I can hear them and it helped me. I know I have a lot of love here and Paris, trust me I know, so I really appreciate it and hopefully, you guys can help me make it through the next round."

In great form and having lost just one set in Paris, Swiatek made quick work of her quarter-final match against Marketa Vondrousova, winning 6-0, 6-2 after a double-bagel in the previous round. The 23-year-old Pole also defeated Gauff in their first-ever Grand Slam final at the 2022 French Open, leading 10-1 in their head-to-head matches.

However, despite Gauff's only victory over the world number one taking place last year in Cincinnati, Swiatek is not taking the upcoming challenge lightly: "The same as before any other match, you don't want to change your routines."

"It's good to just keep going and not think of it as something huge, but just another match and not put too much baggage on your shoulders. Coco is not easy, she likes playing on clay, especially here I think so I will just focus on myself, prepare tactically and we will see."

Court Philippe Chatrier will be the host to the women's singles final this Saturday. The champion will be either Swiatek or Gauff or one of Jasmine Paolini, Elena Rybakina, Mirra Andreeva, or Aryna Sabalenka who are still in the fray.
