Novak Djokovic to spend day off with Nick Kyrgios after cruising to Wimbledon win
Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios will hit together on Wednesday
Novak Djokovic will spend his day off on Wednesday with Nick Kyrgios. The pair will enjoy a practice session together as part of the injured Australian's rehab programme.
Wimbledon is at SW19 as part of the BBC punditry team and he reached out to the Serbian to set up a hit.
Kyrgios has been injured for the best part of the last two years and is recovering from a complicated wrist surgery.
The 29-year-old, who reached the Wimbledon final just two years ago, explained how excited he is to hit with the 24-time Grand Slam winner.
"Hitting with Novak tomorrow on his day off, feel like a little kid again…. Feeling excited. Long way back from this surgery!" Kyrgios wrote on social media.
Kyrgios is planning to first return to the court in the doubles draw, in which he won the only Grand Slam title of his career alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis.
"I’m back in London doing a lot of commentary, which is exciting. But I’m also doing training during these two weeks," Nick Kyrgios told UTS.

"I’ll be playing doubles in the next month. It will be exciting. I’ll probably start there and hopefully, if everything is OK, I’ll move to singles and then I’ll see how long I’ll hang around for."
Meanwhile, Djokovic dropped just five games as he stormed into the second round at Wimbledon, thrashing Czeck star Vit Kopriva on Tuesday.
The Serbian has struggled with his own injury issues of late and had knee surgery just 27 days before his campaign at the All England Club got underway.
"I played I think just enough to win confidently in straight sets. I felt like as the match progressed, I moved better," Djokovic explained.
"Those couple points I think when I broke him in the second set, I did one slide. That was the first slide of the grass court season for me. I haven't done it even in a practice week. So that was a great test.
"After that, I felt happy that I did it because in a way you also feel mentally hesitant to do those extreme movements. But knowing that I can do it is, obviously, very comforting and very positive."
