Johanna Konta becomes first British casualty at Wimbledon
JOHANNA KONTA became the first Briton to fall at the first round of Wimbledon.
Despite showing glimpses of her talent, Konta slipped to defeat in three gripping sets against China's Shuai Peng - 4-6, 6-3, 4-6.
Konta claimed an early break in the first set, and the pendulum seemed to swing back and forth.
Peng was impressive on her backhand wing while Konta's forehand seemd to falter.
After losing the first, Konta started the second in impressive fashion racing to a 4-1 lead.
And the match was nicely in the balance when it went to a third.
Peng held her nerve to close out the match while Konta will look back on her missed opportunities.
