Victoria Azarenka: I'm supporting Argentina because I love Lionel Messi
VICTORIA AZARENKA has explained that she is supporting Argentina at this year's World Cup which in part is down to Lionel Messi.
Azarenka safely booked her place in the second round at Wimbledon courtesy of a straight-sets 6-3, 7-5 win over Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.
The eighth-seeded Belgian was playing in her first competitive match since the Australian Open, but has been keeping an eye on the World Cup.
And she has revealed her affinity for Argentina and one man in particular - Messi.
"I have supported Argentina for the past three World Cups," Azarenka said in her post-match interview.
"I have been pictured wearing an Argentina shirt before and I'm a big Lionel Messi fan.

Azarenka also admitted she had no worries about playing at Wimbledon after she pulled out last year when she took a tumble on the pristine grass.
"I don't think it was important what happened last year - it's a beautiful court, a beautiful tournament. I didn't have any bad thoughts and super happy to win," she continued.
"Last year was a blur, but with the fresh grass, it was beautiful."
