Meghan Markle went on very unusual trip before meeting Prince Harry
MEGHAN MARKLE travelled to many countries before meeting Prince Harry as part of her job as an actress as well as a lifestyle blogger on her website the Tig. But in 2015, she went on a very unusual trip.
Meghan Markle, 37, has travelled to a number of countries during her time in the public eye.
She joined Prince Harry, 33, in Jamaica, for a friend's wedding, in Iceland, for a personal trip, and the French Riviera for New Year's celebrations.
She also joined him on a trip to Botswana to celebrate her 36th birthday.
Yet before she met Prince Harry, the royal went on a rather unusual trip in 2015.
Writing on her lifestyle blog The Tig, which has now closed down, Meghan posted photographs of her trip to New Zealand where she chose to travel by camper van.
As the first time visiting New Zealand, she chose to explore the North and South Island with a friend by road in a very low-budget holiday.
Meghan, who was 33 at the time, shared some of the best photographs of her trips along the way.
Some of her excursions included drinking wine in Marlborough, which she said was “a definite win” for me.
She also hiked up the glacier in Franz Josef before free swimming with dolphins.
The royal spoke to her ex-co-star from TV show Suits, Gabriel Macht for advice on the budget trip.
s a food lover, she also visited restaurants such as Botswana Butchery and Budu Cafe in Queenstown
It was Macht who explained that going “camper vanning” was the best way to see the islands.
She explained to Conde Nast Traveller: “I was told to let go of my impressions of RV culture in the U.S., that it was a totally different thing in New Zealand.”
Many of her others images show off the stunning scenery of the island, with her two-week excursion including Queenstown, Lake Wanaka and Kaikoura.
As a food lover, she also visited restaurants such as Botswana Butchery and Budu Cafe in Queenstown.

Her trip ended at a beautiful holiday home in Waiheke, after admitting to wanting something “more spacious” after 10 days in the van.
Meghan will be heading to New Zealand again later this year, albeit in much more lavish travel terms.
She will join Prince Harry on their first royal tour abroad as a married couple.
Their trip will include Australia as the pair visit a number of destinations alongside the Invictus Games in Sydney.
They have already visited Dublin in Ireland on an official visit just weeks after they married in May.
