Europe's cheapest destination for a weekend break is a fairytale city
A new study has unveiled Europe's cheapest city breaks for British tourists. There are some incredible destinations on the hotlist.
Planning a European city break for 2024? New research from the luggage storage experts at Stasher has found this year's best-value European destinations.
The team analysed data from KAYAK, Hotels.com and Numbeo to find the best options for a weekend getaway.
The cheapest destination came in at under £550 for a weekend and it looks like it could have fallen out the pages of a book of fairytales.
At the other end of the scale, Zurich in Switzerland was the most expensive destination for a city break.

10. Valencia, Spain
The only Spanish destination on the list, Valencia came in at £675 for a weekend break. The coastal city offers the perfect mix of beach, culture and history and has fewer crowds than popular Barcelona.
9. Porto, Portugal
Portugal's gorgeous 'capital of the north' was one of this year's cheapest destinations. A holiday in the Portugeuse city cost £670 per person. It's one of the best places in Europe to sample port and don't miss it's iconic sandwich, the francesinha.
8. Stockholm, Sweden
The capital of Sweden is a suprising entry on this list, as it's generally one of Europe's most expensive cities. However, the Stasher team found it was possible to enjoy a break in Stockholm for £665.
6. Istanbul, Turkey
A bustling metropolis, Istanbul was one of Europe's cheapest breaks coming in at £651 per person. The Turkish city's Grand Bazaar is the ideal spot to shop for souvenirs while food is extremely affordable in Istanbul.
5. Budapest, Hungary
Budapest was one of Europe's best-value city breaks for Britons, coming to £620 for a weekend. The Hungarian capital has incredible architecture and it's also one of Europe's best-value spa spots with its gorgeous historic thermal baths.
