Have you ever thought when travelling abroad that there may be a better quality of life?
It might not necessarily be down to the fact that most places have better weather than the UK but also other factors.
New research from Oxford Economics’ Global Cities Index for 2024 has been released. They looked at six factors which impact the quality of life from around the world.
These include income per person, life expectancy, income equality, housing expenditure, recreation and cultural sites and internet speed.
Let’s take a look at the top 10 global cities with the best quality of life and how much they scored out of 100.
10. Nantes, France - 92.5
Nantes is the sixth largest in France with a population of 705,609. This is according to data from the World Population Review.
The region itself, which is located in western France, is known for its vineyards which produce Muscadet white wine.
9. Ghent, Belgium - 93.5
Located in northwest Belgium it is a port city. Ghent is a university and cultural centre at the confluence of the Leie and Scheldt rivers.
8. Zurich, Switzerland - 94.1
Known for its banking and finance, Switzerland is featured three times on this list. Let’s not forget that Zurich is a great place for contemporary art, shopping, and nightlife.
7. Reykjavik, Iceland - 94.4
We’re not surprised that the capital of Iceland made the list. Blue lagoons, the northern lights it’s no wonder tourists flock there and citizens are known to be the friendliest in the world.
6. Luxembourg, Luxembourg - 97
Despite being a small country, Luxembourg has plenty to offer in terms of quality of life. There’s plenty of natural beauty to explore with forests and parks to enjoy.
