Ibiza, one of the Balearic Islands, is known to be a destination favoured by brides and grooms for their stag and hen dos.

While it is true that Ibiza has a party island spirit, there are also several areas where relaxation and peace are paramount.

Among them is the cosy village of San Jose, part of the Sant Josep de sa Talaia municipality in western Ibiza and in the foothills of the highest mountain of the island - the 1,558ft tall Sa Talaia.

This Spanish village can pride itself on being home to some outstanding restaurants, pubs, and cocktail bars, perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Those on the hunt for local products can also venture into the several small shops and boutiques, where traditional ceramics can be found among other souvenirs.

Moreover, from April to late October, visitors and locals can enjoy a food and craft market held in the centre of San Jose, where around 20 stalls offer local produce and handmade products.

Staying in San Jose also means being close to the Parish Church of Sant Josep de sa Talaia - one of the most popular churches to visit on the island, included in many official tours.

While many of its original artworks were destroyed or damaged during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the church allows visitors to take a glimpse into the history of the village and its deep-rooted traditions.

San Jose is 10.7 miles west of Eivissa, Ibiza's capital, and 6.5 miles away from the local airport, making it relatively easy to reach.

While it does not immediately face the sea, San Jose is only a 20-minute drive away from the stunning Ses Salines and Es Cavallet beaches.

While staying in San Jose allows to live the island more like a local than elsewhere, it is close enough to Ibiza Town should visitors dip their toes in the more rowdy party scene on the island.
