While economy flights are certainly cheaper, they admittedly have their drawbacks.

Prolonged confinement to a small space is hardly anyone's idea of a fun time – but one savvy traveller seems to think she's discovered the perfect arsenal of five items to alleviate the discomfort.

The best part? You likely already own most of them.

TikTok user @findingfiona shared her essential flight must-haves that greatly improved her recent 14-hour flight to Alaska. Amongst her kit, "Colgate mini disposable toothbrushes" took the first spot - no water necessary.

She enthused about how they "make your mouth feel so minty and fresh", making the inconvenient trek to the used-by-many, often dismal aeroplane bathroom totally unnecessary.

The second in-flight saviour Fiona recommends is a good quality suncream. Her personal favourite happens to be the Supergoop glow stick.

"I love it because then you don't have to touch your face", she explained.

When some asked why SPF would even be required during a flight, someone in the comments section provided some insight.

They wrote: "UVA lights in the sky are way more intensive than on the ground and airplane windows don't block them. UVA lights can damage your skin."

Her third recommendation was "noise cancellation headphones". By donning them on board, "you don't hear anything on the plane" and they boast a "30-hour battery life".

The fourth essential item for an economy flight, according to Fiona, is a lip sleeping mask. She recommends the Laneige brand – but states it's ultimately up to personal preference. "Your lips will feel so good after", she claims.

Lastly, she discloses that she can't travel without her inflatable travel pillow, which she places on the seat in front of her for maximum comfort. "You just blow it up and it helps you sleep like a baby", she reassures.

A user in the comments section commended her pillow choice. They wrote: "That pillow is amazing in so many different ways. If you don't inflate it all the way it's great for lumbar support or if you get the row to yourself."

In addition, another user mentioned their necessity for an "eye mask" and "ear plugs" as critical travel companions. They added they would work great "as well as everything else" – and we'd have to agree.
