Cruise guest sees holiday ruined after luggage nightmare
A cruise guest has described their worst ever cruise holiday after a luggage mishap left them less than impressed.
A cruise guest has shared their worst ever holiday experience after an incident with their luggage left them with nothing to wear.
Reddit user ‘thatwoman9’ said: “About 10 years ago, my husband and I went on a cruise. On the flight to the port, the airline lost our luggage.
“So we did the whole cruise without any luggage at all. The cruise line let us dig through lost and found clothes to wear, but my husband couldn’t find any dress pants (smart trousers) to fit him, so we never went to any of the nicer restaurants.
“Looking back on pictures from that cruise, we look hilarious wearing all sorts of things we would normally never wear.
“Then six months later, the airline found and delivered our luggage to our house at 3am in the middle of the night.”
Unless passengers live near a port, cruise guests will usually have to catch a flight to start their cruise holiday.
This means they’re reliant on an airline to get them and their luggage to the ship on time. Some cruise guests like to arrive at a port the night before as this allows a bit more time in case there’s a delay.
Cruise ships won’t be able to wait for late passengers, especially if they booked their flights separately.

The cruise passenger said that they’d always taken a carry-on suitcase with important items since the incident.
Another passenger, ‘AccentFiend’ said: “A cruise I went on a few months ago, saw the bags of everyone I boarded with make it to the room with no issues by 2pm…except mine.
“I’m a crazy person and I always have a bathing suit and throw it in my bag, but it was definitely in the back of my brain for the rest of the day and evening.
"When we made it back to the room that night, my bag was there but I always thought it was strange that only mine showed up late.”
Guests will also need to be careful when they pack for a cruise. A couple were recently left outraged after they weren’t allowed to bring their coffee machine onboard.
Electrical items and candles are banned on cruise ships as they are considered to be a fire risk.
