Here come the kids! Cruise & Maritime Voyages relaxes adults-only rule
ADULTS-ONLY Cruise & Maritime Voyages is to allow children onboard its newest ship during next year's summer holidays.
Cruise & Maritime Voyages is to allow children onboard its newest ship
The specialist British-market cruise line has been inundated with requests from passengers who want to take their children or grandchildren away with them.
So two specific cruises next August will run without age restriction on the cruise line's new ship Columbus.
Its seven-night Cruise To The Norwegian Fjords will offer children's fares from £99 per person and its 14-night Canary Islands & Madeira cruise will have children's fares from £199 per person.
The 2017 brochure also offers Buy One Get One Free deals for those who book before June 30 this year.
And 150 cabins will be available for solo travellers on Columbus and Magellan during the 2017 cruise programme with just a 25 per cent supplement for sole occupancy.
Next summer the Columbus will offer sailings to the Norwegian fjords
Columbus will officially launch in June 2017 and homeport from London Tilbury, starting with a mini-cruise to Amsterdam and Antwerp on June 11.
Next summer the ship will also offer sailings around the British Isles, to the Norwegian fjords, the Baltic, Canary Islands and Madeira.
Columbus will join Cruise & Maritime Voyages after a major refit in April and May 2017 to transform the 1,400-passenger ship.
Passengers have sent many requests asking to bring their children along
It currently sails as Pacific Pearl under P&O Cruises Australia and was previously upgraded last August.
After the refit the 13-deck ship will have 64 luxury balcony cabins and junior suites.
Columbus will be Cruise & Maritime Voyage's fifth ship, joining Magellan, Marco Polo, Astoria and Astor as CMV's new flagship.
With Columbus, Magellan and Astoria sailing from London Tilbury, the new ship will mean the cruise line can offer more departures from regional ports.
These will include new sailings from Newport and Cardiff and additional departures from Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool and Bristol, plus sailings from Belfast and Dublin.
Next year Magellan has a 120-night Grand Round the World Cruise, with 10 shorter sectors available.
The 14-night Canary Islands & Madeira cruise will also allow children onboard
The maiden Columbus season includes a 46-night voyage to Cuba, Central America and the Caribbean.
Highlights include an overnight stay in Cuba's capital Havana, the chance to visit the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza in Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, Cartagena in Columbia and the Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Antigua and Barbados.
