It’s about time director Sam Raimi returned to his horror-camp roots. Drag Me to Hell harks back to his Evil Dead series, an even more ridiculously over-the-top schlockfest starring Allison Lohman as soft-spoken bank teller named Christine cursed by a old gypsy woman to be tormented and literally dragged off to hell by a demon.
Either snicker- or vomit-inducing, it’s not for everyone—animal lovers, the weak-stomached (it eschews blood for tons of bodily fluids), anyone with taste, for that matter—but for fans of this kind of thing, it’s a helluva ride.

The Proposal Of Sandra Bullock’s two comedies this summer, one was a miserable flop, one hit big. This is the latter. Serviceably funny, and Sandra’s always fun to watch.
Land of the Lost Misguided retooling of the cheesy ‘70s show that isn’t as bad as most critics said. Although the gross-out and potty humor is pretty unnecessary, there are some genuinely funny moments--it's just a matter of finding them.
American Violet Terrific performance by newcomer Nicole Beharie makes this docudrama about an African-American woman unjustly arrested for drug-dealing in Texas who maintains her innocence throughout worth a look.
