Long before Entourage even went off the air, the show’s stars (and its executive producer Mark Wahlberg) teased the possibility of a feature-length Entourage film. Today, that dream is becoming a reality.
Deadline confirms that Warner Bros. is moving forward with an Entourage movie, adding that the film will be written and directed by series creator Doug Ellin. Now the studio is conducting negotiations with the show’s core cast, which includes Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven. The site even speculates that the movie will include “a swarm of real Hollywood talent, playing themselves.”
Entourage ran on HBO for eight seasons, from 2004-11. It was nominated for 25 Primetime Emmy Awards and 14 Golden Globes over the course of its run, winning multiple times in various categories.
Rumors say that the movie’s story will take place six months after the conclusion of the show’s last episode, while Wahlberg had hinted in interviews that a bulk of the action could find Vince’s crew on location in Europe (which makes sense, since the gang flew to Paris in the series finale … leaving fans with a bit of a cliffhanger).
Deadline says that there is no start date on the movie yet, but given the fact that the cast and crew are trained to crank out weekly episodes on a tight schedule, I’m willing to believe once everyone has signed on the dotted line, the wheels of production could spin faster than usual, meaning we might see an Entourage movie in theaters sooner rather than later.
