Harry PotterThere's not too much to go on here because we don't know the title, subject or release date, but we do now know that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has inked a deal with Little, Brown Book Group and Little, Brown and Company to publish her first novel since the Harry Potter saga ended, and it will be for adults.

“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world," Rowling said in a statement. "The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.”

While we don't know what this new novel for adults will be about, we're positive the film rights will be sold fairly quickly. Yes, it hurts that the novel won't be as family-friendly as Harry Potter since a studio (will it be Warner Bros.?) won't be able to use Potter as much to sell the film, but it will be interesting to see if Rowling's writing remains as addictive when applied to more adult themes. What do you think?
