Awards season is in full swing with the New York Film Critics Circle announcing its winners today. The honorees include a number of buzzed-about favorites including 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and Dallas Buyers Club.

BEST ACTRESS: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle
BEST DIRECTOR: Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave
BEST FOREIGN FILM: Blue Is the Warmest Color
BEST ANIMATED FILM: The Wind Rises
BEST SCREENPLAY: American Hustle
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Bruno Delbonnel, Inside Llewyn Davis
BEST FIRST FILM: Fruitvale Station
BEST NON-FICTION FILM (DOCUMENTARY): Stories We Tell
There aren't too many surprises here. Redford has been a quiet favorite up until now with 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor being picked by many to win the majority of awards in the Best Actor category.
Notable exclusions include Gravity, Lone Survivor, The Spectacular Now and Tom Hanks' dual efforts, Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks.
Tomorrow, the National Board of Review will release its selections for best films and performances followed by the L.A. Film Critics on Sunday, December 8.
The four-month-long award season culminates on March 2 with the Academy Awards.
