MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -It’s an annual tradition for Lundi Gras as dozens escorted King Felix to his float much to the delight of some parade goers.

“They’re really fancy and beautiful. It’s really cool,” said Micah Toris. “It’s also really cool how the tugboats shoot out the colored water.”

The King Felix parade officially kicks off a day full of Lundi Gras celebrations after what’s already been a long deep gras weekend. Fortunately, some have figured out how to push through.

“A lot of sleep,” said Bailey Sandoval. “A lot of good partying, make sure you have good people with you and check the schedule.”

For some people like Rhonda Sandoval Lahman from California, this parade is part of her introduction to Mardi Gras which she says has more than lived up to the hype.

“I was expecting like a parade but not like this it was way, way over the top,” said Rhonda Sandoval Lahman. “I was expecting parades you see for little town parades they have for little Christmas parades, but this was nothing like I have ever seen in my life.”

Parade goers new and old lined the route in search of their favorite throws.

“Sometimes I like catching stuffed animals because I get all the girls,” said Jack Rankin.

“You got to hustle,” said Marquez Ratchford. “It’s the hustle man it’s the fun.”

As the parade rolled down the street. People say it was the perfect way to get excited for Fat Tuesday.

“Just the people, the fun, the excitement, watching the kids and the families and everyone coming together and enjoying it,” added Ratchford.
