BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - February 13 wasn’t your average Fat Tuesday in Biloxi. It was the day two souls became one, by way of holy matrimony.

Gregory Hornsby’s greatest wish is finally coming true. He’s saying “I do” to his beloved Meghan, the girl who stole his heart when they were in preschool in 1987.

“Sitting on top of the world,” Hornsby said. “She’s been chasing me around ever since; I finally gave in.”

Now after five years of dating and having two children, Gregory and Meghan became Mr. and Mrs. Hornsby, married by his cousin, Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich.

Gregory said he couldn’t have picked a better life partner.

“She’s the kindest incredible human being that just cares about other people 100 percent,” he said. I mean that and that’s who I married and that’s who I love.”

His parents Fred and Linda Hornsby said they’re proud that their son and daughter-in-law are starting a new life filled with love and partnership.

“I couldn’t hardly talk when she was coming up the aisle. It was the most amazing feeling in the world,” Fred Hornsby said.

Fred Hornsby said he had the honor of watching his son get married on the porch of the home where his grandparents raised him.

“When they passed away, I took the house over and we raised our family here and we were here for all the Mardi Gras,” he said.

Now Gregory and Meghan are living their lives here and celebrating their marriage. Their wedding day falls on the city of Biloxi’s 325th birthday.

Mayor FoFo Gilich said he hopes the couple has a long happy life together. He also said the secret to any successful marriage is having chemistry, commonality, and commitment.

“You’ll have trials and tribulations and arguments and those kinds of things but you work through it. That’s what makes a great life and a great partnership, that’s what marriage is about, commitment to each other,” Gilich said.

“Even though it may be challenging, challenging in a lot of ways. But there will be another day, The good Lord gives us only what we can handle.”
